Shearwater is a luxury charter catamaran cruiser based at Pwllheli Marine, North Wales. We specialise in scenic coastal cruises of the Llyn Peninsula, visiting seal and seabird colonies of offshore islands, where we are regularly joined by our resident population of Bottlenose Dolphins. We undertake dolphin photo-ID work for the Seawatch Foundation and conduct Sea-Search projects with Marine Conservation Society volunteers.
Bookings for our morning (2.5hrs) and afternoon (4+hrs) are taken by the Pwllheli Tourist Information Centre. We also conduct private cruises (max.12 passengers) and dive charters. |

Enjoy the stunningly scenery and wildlife of North Wales with Waterline boat charter. Our boat will give you unrivalled access to quiet, unvisited bays and inlets, isolated islands and white sandy beaches. On our wildlife and scenic trips we regularly see Dolphins and almost always Seals (especially when the Seals are hauled out at low tide to sun themselves).
Birdlife abounds from rare Choughs nesting in cracks on the cliffs, Peregrines bullying Guillemots and Razorbills, Puffins, Shags, Cormorants, Shearwater, Petrels and a host of other seabirds! Nesting season is a cacophony of sound.
Waterlines operate and follow Wise boat operator guidelines. We use a Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB). Our Tornado 6.5m deep-V hulled RIB has excellent sea handling characteristics and is great fun to experience! We are licensed to take up to nine passengers.
Paul Turkentine, the skipper, is a keen naturalist and scuba diver. He has worked in conservation for many years, as a National Trust countryside warden, and is currently on contract to the Countryside Council for Wales with their marine monitoring team. He is also the regional coordinator for Seasearch helping to record and survey the marine life around the coast of Britain. |

The role of the Countryside Council for Wales' Marine & Freshwater Sciences Group is to help achieve the conservation and sustainable management of the Welsh Coast, seas and fresh waters. We work closely with other colleagues in CCW to achieve this. Together we have a detailed knowledge of the habitats and species of its rivers, lakes, coast, estuaries and sea, and the environmental pressures on them.
Pedryn is our research vessel. A Delta-built RIB (Category 2 rated), her home port is Y Felinheli, near Bangor. She is equipped primarily for diving, but also used for bird, marine mammal, side-scan sonar and grab sampling surveys. Skippering duties are shared between Marine Monitoring Team staff and a regularly contracted skipper. |
