The James Stevens No 10, which served as the lifeboat
in St Ives from 1899 until 1933, was rescued from a
boatyard in Essex a month before it was due to be scrapped
and has recently emerged from a complete refit. The
Dolly Pentreath is a traditional Cornish fishing lugger
and was built in St. Ives, Cornwall in 1993. Licensed
to sail from any port with 12 persons, 60 miles offshore.
She has an experienced crew. She looks good and sails
well. She is based in St. Ives, Cornwall, but will travel
anywhere.
Both vessels are now operating as leisure boats making
daily trips to Seal Island and are both available for
charter.
Take a 3 mile trip Westward to Seal Island, where you
can observe the grey Atlantic seals at play or rest
or even dolphins and sunfish. After leaving the harbour
and rounding The Island, you will pass Porthmeor Beach,
and The Tate Gallery, then continue along the beautiful
rugged Cornish cliffs and secluded coves, before reaching
the famous Seal Island. |
