To become a WiSe accredited operator, you'll need to attend a training day with us. These are usually held just before or after the usual summer season to allow operators to attend before the season gets really busy.
The WiSe course fee is a very reasonable £50 per person. The course usually consists of one day spent indoors, with presentions/discussions on topics such as current marine wildlife legislation, good boat practice, the types of wildlife you might see, animal identification & behaviour, and specific species or habitat sensitivities pertinent in your area. Currently, full-course materials provided to attendees include: a folder of course notes covering all issues on the WiSe syllabus, a laminated species identification guide, a cetacean identification DVD, plus a WiSe flag and sticker for your boat. Remember, only the operator who attends the course gets the WiSe accreditation, not the boat - so if you have more than one boat skipper, you might want to consider sending each of them on our course.
